The Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program that encourages organizations to purchase green power to offset environmental impact. Kohl's has been a member of the Green Power Partnership since 2006. We achieved membership in the leadership circle for using at least 30% green power in 2009. Currently, we use 100% green power in our operations through the use of renewable energy credits, on-site and off-site solar generation. We have been recognized by the Green Power program as Partner of the Year for three consecutive years between 2009 and 2011. In 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 we received an EPA Green Power Award for Sustained Excellence for our continuous commitment to renewable energy.

ENERGY STAR

ENERGY STAR Partner

Kohl's has been a member of the ENERGY STAR program since 1998. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Through the ENERGY STAR program, the EPA has partnered with thousands of organizations to improve the efficiency of commercial and industrial facilities through strategic energy management practices. All facilities we operate are entered into the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to measure energy efficiency. Each location is given a score, which serves as a valuable tool to help improve energy efficiency. We have more than 1,000 store locations that have earned the ENERGY STAR certification for superior energy efficiency in the retail sector. We were named ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 we were given an ENERGY STAR Award for Sustained Excellence for our continued commitment to energy efficiency.

In 2015, Kohl's 1,000th store achieved ENERGY STAR certification. We are the second retailer to obtain certifications at this many locations, and Kohl's has the highest percentage of ENERGY STAR certified locations among retailers.
